Young scientists from the Laboratory of High Energy Physics is holding a NICA Open Day

For the first time, the Open Door day at the NICA complex is being held at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of JINR.

The NICA collider is being built and elections for the leaders of the MPD and BM@N collaborations is taking place

The construction of the NICA collider is continuing at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Builders (general contractor Strabag) are to deliver this object in 2020.

NICA: complex systems and large collaborations

The implementation of the mega-science project NICA in the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research is going according to plan — all the necessary equipment is being produced so that the collider complex will be launched in 2020.

KRION — a prototype ion source for the NICA mega-project is being tested at LHEP

Krion is a unique instrument — a source of highly charged ions that will be used at the Laboratory for High Energy Physics of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in the NICA project. A cryogenic ionizer is necessary for the generation of gold ions, which are sent to the accelerating structures of NICA complex.

NICA unites international teams around the MPD and BM @ N experiments

The work of large international teams of scientists and specialists participating in the NICA project begins at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. Representatives of Russia, China, Germany, the United States of America, the Czech Republic, Poland, Israel, Egypt, Mexico and other countries joined the MPD (Multi-Purpose Detector at the Heavy Ion Collider) and BM@N (Baryon Matter at the Nuclotron) collaborations.

BM@N — the first experiments in the framework of NICA: the study of the structure of the nucleon inside the nucleus

The first sign in the NICA mega-project, in the accelerator complex of the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of JINR, is an experiment on extracted beams with fixed targets. For these purposes, the BM@N facility, a baryonic matter at the Nuclotron, was created.

Supervisory Board on the mega-project NICA estimates the pace of work on the collider complex

At the NICA collider, which is being built at the Laboratory of High Energy Physics (JINR), the experimental setup MPD (Multi-Purpose Detector) will be located at one of two intersecting points of the beams.

The supervisory board for the mega-science project NICA is gathering in Dubna, at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, to evaluate the work performed, decide on how to further develop the collider complex, and to discuss a scientific program.
